Answer Writing Strategy for High Marks

RTU evaluators look for accurate formulas, correct units, and neat circuit diagrams in your answer booklet. Use a blue pen for your main text and a black pen for drawing circuits and writing final answers.

In Part A, answer directly. If the question asks for the formula of the form factor, write the exact ratio of the RMS value to the average value. Keep your answers factual and precise.

In Part B, provide a brief explanation accompanied by the relevant circuit diagram. When asked about the difference between a core type and a shell type transformer, use a comparison table. List four specific structural differences to make your answer easy to scan.

In Part C, detail is essential. When solving a ten mark Thevenin theorem problem, draw the circuit at every single step. Show the removal of the load resistor, the calculation of the open circuit voltage, and the calculation of the equivalent resistance.
